You shouldn't need 700 MB
for a to-do list

Electron apps bundle an entire Chromium browser. MacTask is pure Swift — faster, lighter, and native down to the pixel.

FAQ

Questions

Is this actually native or another Electron wrapper?
100% native. Swift, SwiftUI, SwiftData. No Chromium, no web views, no JavaScript runtime. MacTask uses Apple's native frameworks for everything — WidgetKit for widgets, UserNotifications for alerts, SMAppService for launch-at-login.
How much does MacTask cost?
MacTask is free for the first two weeks after launch. After that, it's a one-time $9.99 purchase on the Mac App Store. No subscriptions, no recurring fees, no in-app purchases. If you grab it during the free window, it's yours forever.
Does MacTask store my data on its own servers?
No. MacTask talks directly to Google's Tasks API using your Google account. Your data lives on your Mac (in a local SwiftData store for offline access) and on Google's servers. Nothing is sent anywhere else.
Does the widget actually let me complete tasks?
Yes. The medium and large widgets include interactive checkboxes via AppIntents. Tap to complete — it updates immediately in the widget and syncs to Google the next time the app is active.
Can I use multiple Google accounts?
Not yet — MacTask currently supports one account at a time. Multi-account support is on the roadmap.
What macOS version do I need?
macOS 14 Sonoma or later. MacTask uses SwiftData and WidgetKit features introduced in macOS 14.
